Synopsis for "The Devonian Age"

After having watched Max Mercury trying to install a fax machine to better keep in touch with current super hero teams, Impulse takes off to school. Later, Max receives an emergency fax and picks up Bart from school to counteract an attack on Area 52. On the secret military base they find two intruders who seem to be able to vibrate through walls. Of course, Impulse enters the fight without a strategy and thus, both him and Max get zapped away.

Impulse and Max wake up in a big glass tube, and are greeted by Dr. Julian Tremain who calls himself Master of Time and Space. He wants to change the planet's history and become the leader of all mankind. When Impulse tries to escape, Tremain uses him as an energy source to activate his time machine and suddenly, both Max and Bart find themselves thrown back into the Devonian age. Max tries to prevent Bart from doing anything that could change the course of history.

They find Tremain and his henchman who invite the heroes to share a meal with them. Obviously, Tremain's plan backfired and the only possible way to get back to the present might be to change the past in a way that Tremain never builds the time machine. After Bart slapped a large insect, he finds himself back in school. But this is not the reality Bart knows - several things differ, e.g. there is a safety police which locks Max Mercury in stocks only because he tried to save a dog from being run over by a car ...
