Synopsis for "Nightmare"
A trio of heroes meet at Leachman's Antiquities: The Flash, Cyborg, and Zatanna. They were summoned here by Cyborg, who got a call from The Cave" asking him to investigate what had happened to Batman. Zatanna tries using magic, but is surprised to find that Batman is nowhere in the universe, alive or dead.
Investigating further, Cyborg finds Bleed radiation inside the shop and tries to examine it for answers, and uncovers a weak patch, where someone passed through. Zatanna casts a spell on the weak patch to summon Batman. Unfortunately, what emerges is a vampiric Batman that Cyborg decries as a nightmare. They force the creature back to its own universe, then decide that the only option they have left is to go through the hole looking for Batman. However, once they are through, they find a technological world, and they are no closer to finding to Batman...
On Earth-19, Batman is a little out of his depth. With Harbinger, the local Catwoman has used her technology to summon a cadre of allies to hunt for "The Two-Faced", her murderer, an atomic mutant from Earth-17. Arcane Green Lantern introduces himself, trusting Batman based on respect for his counterpart. Batman does the same. With the help of Nightmare Robin, he gives the group a focus they can use, and they set off for Earth-48 to catch the Atomic Two-Face.
They arrive in a desert, within a day's walk of a city of minarets. Before they can do anything, a flash of white light obliterates the universe.
In the Monitor stronghold, Nix Uotan is aghast at the destruction of the universe Earth-48. With the Construct, he discovers that it was apparently done, intentionally or not, by someone with one of the Artefacts. He searches the Bleed for survivors who may have fallen out of the universe during the destruction. But the Construct warns him that the odds are not favourable.
But someone has survived. Arcane Green Lantern moved his group into the Bleed and protected them with a box he has generated. Now he needs to hold them... but his lamp is dying, and he cannot hold the construct forever. His mind drifts back to his first encounter with the multiverse, when his domain was invaded by an army of evil robots. He fought valiantly, and with the help of Harbinger, he defeated the robots. She told him of the coming crisis, and of the army of light she wanted to build.
But now Harbinger is dead, and her universe destroyed by her opponents. As he thinks back, the light from his emerald lantern gutters out, but the group is saved by the timely arrival of Nix Uotan. Thankful, Arcane Green Lantern fills in the newcomer on the death of Harbinger and the crimes of Atomic Two-Face. Nix Uotan explains that he has tracked Atomic Two-Face back to his home on Earth-17. As soon as the heroes has recovered, they can get vengeance.
