Ira Schnapp (b. October 10, 1892 – d.July 24, 1969) was a comic book artist.
Professional History
Ira Schnapp was an Austrian designer and comic book letterer. He started working in 1941 for DC Comics on the title Detective Comics and soon he worked for other titles including Batman, Western Comics, Adventure Comics and many others.
Schnapp is often cited as the designer for the logo of the "Action Comics" title and he is probably best known for creating the logo for the Comics Code Authority.
Personal History
Schnapp was born in Austria and traveled to America with his family when he was 18 years old. He married a woman named Beatrice in 1919, and the couple took up residence in the Bronx, New York. They had two children.
Schnapp died in New York in 1969.
