Isis, whose original Egyptian name is Aset,[1] is the Mother Goddess of life, fertility, the sky and magic in the Egyptian pantheon, of which she is queen alongside her brother-husband, King Osiris.
History
With her power over life, Isis recovered the pieces of Osiris' body, who was murdered and dismembered by their jealous brother Set, bringing him back to life.[2] With Osiris, Isis was the mother of Horus, the falcon god and their heir. Despite loving her husband, Isis was aware of the adulterous son that Osiris had with their sister Nephthys, wife of Set, which she never accepted.[3]
Isis was one of the matriarchal oracles of the divine pantheons who predicted the need to create races of female warriors throughout the world to fight evil, such as the Amazons and Valkyries, granting part of her essence in their creation.[4]
