Quote1 Gotham will be what I decide. A green world. Won't that be beautiful?" Quote2
Ivy Pepper src

Ivy Pepper was a young girl trying to survive among the criminals of Gotham City, until an accident caused her to physically age and join the Penguin's organization. After being rejected by him and the Sirens, Ivy ingested several mystical chemicals and was reborn with plant control powers, becoming an eco-terrorist known as Poison Ivy and the Witch to the citizens of Gotham.[2][3]

Childhood

Clare Foley Mug

Young Ivy

Ivy was the daughter of the criminal Mario Pepper and Alice Pepper. She lived a regular life in Gotham, which was pretty horrible for the middle class. When her father was framed for the murder of the Waynes, he ended up dying in a chase. Her mother later committed suicide in grief, leaving Ivy an orphan. Living on the streets, she became friends with Selina Kyle. She later worked for Butch Gilzen's nephew and grew "magic mushrooms" for him, though she later betrayed him to let Selina and Bruce steal his money.

First rebirth

Ivy after her first rebirth

After the Indian Hill breakout, Ivy became worried about Selina and found that she was working for Fish Mooney. Calling the escapees freaks, Ivy angered Fish, who sent Marv after her. The freak briefly touched Ivy, before she fell into an open sewer. When Ivy awoke, she found herself on shore as a young woman. To her own surprise, she learned that her newfound beauty would make men give her things without her needing to pay for them. This led to her accidentally incurring the wrath of the Whisper Gang and learning of the Court. She later joined forces with Penguin, helping him freeze Riddler in ice and prepare for the opening of the Iceberg Lounge.[4]

Powers

  • Unique Physiology: Ivy's physiology was altered after she ingested some mystical chemicals from an apothecary shop.[5][6]
    • Chlorokinesis: The mutagenic chemicals granted her a supernatural control over plant life. She can generate, create and project several different types of plant life; for example, she is able to create unique flowers; such as one "seed" which when digested, can heal damaged tissue and bones.[7][3]
    • Pheromone Control: Ivy can project mind-controlling pheromones from her wrist, making her able to manipulate and control the minds of other individuals to get them to do what she wants them to do.[7]
    • Toxikinesis: Ivy can transfer poison through her nails, which are capable of changing an individual's physiology and transforming their organs in plants.[6][7]

Abilities

Weaknesses

  • Solar energy depletion: When deprived of sunlight, Ivy's abilities would slowly begin to fade, thus requiring her to recharge.[3]
  • Emotionally immature: (Formerly) Ivy's basically a girl in a woman's body, thanks to her physical age being accelerated at least 7 years by Marv briefly touching her wrist. However, she gains more maturity and knowledge after her second rebirth.
  • Lack of common sense: (Formerly) While not outright stupid, Ivy has been noted by Selina and Penguin to be dense. This changes after her second rebirth.
