J'onn was a reserve member of the Justice League prior to the destruction of Metropolis. He did not associate himself with the League when it became a worldwide police force, opting to support Batman and his endeavors with the Insurgency.

When Batman formed the Insurgency, J'onn did not immediately announce his presence; Batman wanted him to remain hidden until he knew who he could trust.

J'onn acted as a spy in the Watchtower and on several missions with Superman and Wonderwoman, including their discovery of Lex Luthor.

Bruce then devised a plan to kidnap Hawkgirl and replace her with J'onn. The plan worked, feeding information to Bruce for a long time. When J'onn, as Hawkgirl, teleported to the Batcave and saved Alfred's life from Batman's giant penny, Robin put the pieces together and deducted that J'onn was not Hawkgirl. Uncovered, J'onn hid elsewhere while Damian made his escape to tell the Justice League that Shiera was still being kidnapped.

Following the revelation of Bruce's identity to the world as Batman, J'onn posed as Batman while Bruce escaped far from the cave. He talked to the Justice League, whereupon Diana threatened him to stop his actions. In response, J'onn flies into the air and through a cloud, becoming intangible in the process. He knocks Green Lantern out of the air and confronts Superman. He shows Clark a vision of J'onn's exile from his home, where he was dominated by the White Martians and his children were taken from him. "You know this feeling," referencing Clark's loss of Lois, their baby, and Metropolis.

Diana then tries to interfere, but J'onn grows vines and snakes into her body, strangling her organs and body parts. She orders Clark to use his heat vision on her, seemingly killing J'onn in the process.

Possible Post-Regime Epilogue

Injustice Gods Among Us Vol 1 1 Textless
This section of history takes place in a timeline outside that of normal Injustice canon.
Upon beating "Classic" mode in Injustice: Gods Among Us or "Multiverse" mode in Injustice 2 with any playable fighter, the player would receive a possible alternate ending to the game's story featuring their fighter. These alternate histories should not be seen as relevant to future sequels or comic adaptations.

Banishing his friend and former teammate Superman to the Phantom Zone was difficult for J'onn J'onzz, but necessary. As the One Earth Regime had formed, J'onn, ever the outsider, had chosen to watch from a distance to bide his time. He assumed the form of an Atlantean, and served as royal archivist. Aquaman little suspected that his trusted subject's uncanny ability to gather news of the surface world was the result of telepathic powers.

When J'onn learned that heroes from a parallel dimension were aiding Batman's Insurgency, he assisted as well, leading rescue operations in Metropolis and Gotham after Superman's rampage. In the post Regime era, the Martian Manhunter continued to serve his adopted world, gathering the next generation of heroes to form a new Justice League.

Powers

  • Martian Physiology: The average Martian possesses the potential for the following power set:
    • Shape-Shifting: Martians have psionic control of their physical for down to the molecular level. This allows them to a form of shape-shifting that allows them to mimic other forms, elongate aspects of their body, increase or decrease their physical size, and so on.
      • Size Alteration: As an extension of their shape-shifting abilities, Martians can easily alter their size, shrinking or growing to gigantic size.[1]
    • Invisibility: Martians can cause the biopolymers in their bodies to lose their ability to reflect light, making the Martians invisible to normal light and human sight.[2]
    • Phasing: Martians can go through solid matter.
    • Superhuman Strength:[2] Martians possess vast levels of superhuman strength and are among the few races that are able to match Kryptonians in terms of raw strength. Martians can easily shatter reinforced concrete and steel, lift and carry hundreds of tons with ease and deliver incredible damage with their blows.[3]
    • Superhuman Stamina
    • Superhuman Durability: Martians possess high levels of durability that make them nigh-invulnerable to all forms of damage. Martians can withstand high-caliber bullets, powerful energy blasts, and kinetic impacts without suffering damage.[4]
    • Superhuman Speed: Martians can process thoughts, move, and react at incredible speed, being able to cover vast distances in little or no time, catch bullets in mid-flight, run on water and create afterimages as they run.[5]
    • Regeneration: Martians have powerful regenerative powers that enable them to regenerate their entire body from a severed limb, they can further enhance their regenerative powers by drawing mass from nearby sources.[6]

    • Martian Vision: Martian visual acuity greatly exceed human norms and allows for a wider range of information to be observed. This includes the following:[2]
    • Telepathy: Martians have the ability to read the minds of others and project their thoughts to varying degrees. They can also project their mental essences into a gestalt community known as the "Great Mind". Through this, the community can enhance the telepathic strength of other Martians. This power can also enable them to reverse the effects of amnesia or psychological brainwashing. [2]
    • Telekinesis:[11] Martians have mind-over-matter abilities and can lift and move objects with their minds. They can also employ their telekinesis in an offensive way by discharging telekinetic blasts capable of great concussive power.[12]
