"Virtue and Vice": Superman and Sentinel float outside the moon looking at Earth. They reflect on the reverence they have for each other's groups and look forward to a new tradition of spending each Thanksgiving together.

JLA/JSA: Virtue and Vice is a one-shot with a cover date of February, 2003. It was published on December 4, 2002.

Synopsis for "Virtue and Vice"

Superman and Sentinel float outside the moon looking at Earth. They reflect on the reverence they have for each other's groups and look forward to a new tradition of spending each Thanksgiving together. Superman suddenly picks up on a disturbance in Tanzania, and Martian Manhunter informs them of another disturbance as well.

On Earth, they find Vixen defending President Lex Luthor and fighting off Doctor Bedlam. The JSA and JLA show up and fight off his animates. J'onn is disturbed that something in Africa was disturbing his telepathy and it took him a long time to understand what was going on.

The JLA and JSA suddenly turn on each other. Bickering over small items and showing off their strength, their anger seems to come out of no where as J'onn once again realizes his telepathy is being messed with. Doctor Fate transports several JLA members to his Tower of Fate and Batman transports several JSA and JLA members to the JLA Watchtower. As Batman, Shazam, Plastic Man, Green Lantern, Mr. Terrific, Doctor Fate, and Power Girl walk away from an exploding building, the faces of the seven deadly sins of man can be seen behind them in the flames.

Meanwhile in Gotham and Fawcett Cities, the local people are rioting and the police are unable to quell the crowds.

At the JLA Watchtower, Dr. Mid-Nite is watching over some fallen Justice members. J'onn is badely burned and barely able to speak, but eeks out a telepathic message to be aware of the president.

The Rock of Ages is slowly moving through our dimension to the leagues surprise. When Black Adam investigates, he spots a shadowy figure in the sandstorm. As he approached, he is attacked by the man.

The President announces a speech on the news that he will enact martial law to take control of america. After the broadcast he turns to his disciples, Power Girl, Doctor Fate, Green Lantern, Batman, Plstic Man, Mr. Terrific, and Shazam and tells them to keep causing havoc.

Zatanna arrives at the Rock of Ages and discovers the turned seven League members have statues of them on the 7 deadly sins of man. They discover the wizard has been turned to pure stone and Johnny Sorrow reveals himself and claims responsibility. As he attacks, Firestorm transmutes his mask into tar and he retreats temporarily giving the League time to figure things out.

In Limbo, Jay Garrick warns Wally West that this fight will go on forever. He suddenly falls victim to a blast that melts his flesh. Wally initially panics but Jay is soon restored as he must continue the fight.

In the Tower of Fate, Superman finds his strength drained quickly. Green Lantern wills a path out of the Tower and they end up in Limbo with the other league members.

Mid-Nite infiltrates the White House and discovers Luthor was not knocked out by Black Canary's scream. He reveals himself to actually be Despero. He tells them he's coming for earth because it is unique. It is one of the few systems to celebrate diversity as opposed to consume it.

On Limbo, Atom comes up with a plan that involves the Flashes to run around Surtur to speed up his internal nuclear reaction. He postulates this could cause a black hole though which Green Lantern could will everyone through to get back home. Reluctantly, Alan Scott agrees and successfully brings them back to a world that has become strange to them. They look around and see the mobs and riots and wonder what happened.

Zatanna teleports her group to Black Canary and they reunite as a team again. They are suddenly attacked by the League members possessed by the seven deadly sins. Dr. Mid-Nite gets to the source of Batman's anger and tells him it's not anger that drives him, but a better tomorrow. The Anger sin is suddenly banished from Batman and he returns to his sound mind. Batman tells Mid-Nite it's imperative to get the Sin out of Shazam. The rest will fall if they succeed. After wrapping the Lasso of Truth around Shazam, they get him to say his name and return him to his mortal form. This banishes the Sins from all the affected League members.

A reunited League head to take on Despero and Johnny Sorrow. When Sorrow takes off his mask and becomes tangible, the lanterns encase him in a straight jacket and coffin to imprison him. They then use Johnny Sorrows face on Despero which banishes him from Luthor's body.

Luthor thanks the league, and asks if there's anything he can do to help them. They tell him a new headquarters could be built.

A week later, a new headquarters is built in the same spot as their previously demolished spot.

Sentinel and Superman float near the surface of the moon to get perspective on the world.
