- Alex Ross and Paul Dini tell the origin stories of the JLA's original members and some of the later members. They do not specify which period of DC history they are working in, though it is apparent that this is primarily the Silver Age JLA.
- While the JLA's Hawkman and Hawkgirl are Thanagarians as in Pre-Crisis Earth-One continuity, the League also includes Captain Marvel and Plastic Man, who did not join until the Post-Crisis era.
