Synopsis for "And Justice for All"
While they have each prepared individually, they discuss not feeling ready to face Legacy. They feel they still carry emotional baggage to overcome. Suddenly, the Spectre arrives to take them to Legacy. Doctor Fate (Hector Hall) realizes something is wrong. He reveals the Legacy has been masquerading as the Spectre.
Fate hands his helmet to real Spectre who then frees the imprisoned JSA members. Spectre takes vengeance on the wizard.
The JSA grow concerned over his actions. They feel he should be Spirit of Redemption and this is out of character for his role.
Jay Garrick thinks about how the young JSA did well. They provided inspiration, even to the old-timers.

Notes
- This issue was reprinted in JSA Omnibus Vol. 1.
- The story in JSA: All Stars (Volume 1) follows JSA #37 and precedes the Dr. Fate storyline starting in JSA #41—JSA #38 is a series of vignettes, JSA #39 is a stand-alone Power Girl story, and JSA #40 is a murder mystery. Continuity-wise, it is difficult to harmonize these stories, as JSA: All Stars #1 features the older version of the Cosmic Staff but issue 8 has the newer version introduced in Stargirl's issue. This version of the Cosmic Staff doesn't appear in JSA (Volume 1) until JSA (Volume 1 52), implying that the events of the "Prince of Darkness" storyline occurs between the first and eighth issues of JSA: All Stars (Volume 1).
