Notes

  • Johnny Thunder remembers his own origin. However, in this issue are some differences between the stories in Flash Comics Vol 1 1 and Secret Origins Vol 2 13: the Badhnesians had dyed Johnny's hair in black in the other stories; in the original, early stories, Johnny knew nothing about his Thunderbolt, who acted invisible.

Trivia

  • Steiner refers to Lord Dynamo's soldiers as cyborgs — however, the term cyborg was coined in 1960 by Manfred Clynes and Nathan S. Kline, and the story in this issue takes place in 1944 or 1945.
  • Lord Dynamo offers (to humanity) "a miraculous drug destilled from mold". It may be penicilin, which is already known during the WWII. Lord Dynamo also offers scientific work that could cure smallpox and polio. The smallpox vaccine already existed at that time, but not the polio vaccine, with the first effective one being discovered in 1950. Note, however, that Lord Dynamo promised CURE, not prevention.
