Three beings of immense magical power, Mordru, Obsidian, and Eclipso, have attacked the Earth and have forced the moon from its orbit, creating a permanent, total eclipse.

In the battle with Eclipso, Wildcat is encased in an armor made of solid light courtesy of the Ray and attacked Eclipso. As Eclipso destroys the light armor of Wildcat, Phantom Lady attacks Eclipso by taking possession of the Black Diamond and giving it to Alex Montez, who becomes the new Eclipso.

In the Shadowlands, upon finding Sentinel's near-death body, Captain Marvel has the idea that the powers of Jade might be able to restore Alan Scott's powers. Stargirl then orders the the Shade to take them out of the Shadowlands and he complies. Upon arriving at Los Angeles, Billy Batson, being reconnected to his powers, turns to Captain Marvel, and is met by Jade. However, they are quickly attacked by Obsidian.

Doctor Fate immediately give Dove a psychic transmission on how to stop Mordru. She is directed to go to Gemworld. Doctor Occult, used his Mystic Symbol of the Seven to open a doorway for Dove. She is accompanied by Hawkgirl and Power Girl.

In the Tower of Fate, Mordru watches as the Sand-monster winces in pain, as the true plan of Mordru to destroy the Earth itself comes to light.
