JSA #53 is an issue of the series JSA (Volume 1) with a cover date of December, 2003. It was published on October 15, 2003.
Synopsis for "Blinded"
Crimson Avenger recalls how she thought she knew the difference between justice and vengeance. She studied law but lost a case where a murderer went free. She took up the guns and killed the man herself.
In the present, Wildcat lays dead on the floor. Power Girl, also recently injured by Jill, grabs Wildcat and he miraculously wakes up using one of his nine lives. They help each other up and attempt to flee.
Meanwhile at JSA Headqarters, Michael Holt has his leg examined by Doctor Mid-Nite. He asks for a faster way to heal.
As Power Girl and Wildcat run, Wildcat tells her the story of how he gained his nine lives. He explains how Zatara saved him in 1945 after he refused to throw a fight. As the Crimson Avenger closes in on them, Wildcat confides that he did frame a man for crimes he did not commit.
Elsewhere at JSA headquarters, Green Lantern stops in to see how Jesse Chambers is adjusting to her new job. She tells him she misses her speed force powers in a way as some tasks take much longer now. He tells her she is a disappointment. She's shocked at his sudden and direct tone. She asks him to leave. As he steps out, he says he's available to talk when she needs it.
As the Crimson Avenger closes in, Wildcat tells her he was guilty and he was letting him take the fall as he had gotten away with previous crimes. The Crimson Avenger screams in torment as she doesn't get the full story from her guns and disappears.
Later, The Flash stops in to find Mid-Nite healing Power Girl. He tells him that she will heal.
