Soldier was an old friend of Zealot.

Jack Harackiewicz served in the US Army in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was celebrated within the army, but he never rose above the rank of sergeant, regarding officer training as too much of a commitment. He was regarded by his peers as such a quintessential serviceman that he acquired the nickname "Soldier".

In the 1950s, he adventured with Zealot. He earned her respect, and the two had a fraternal bond. She made him the offer of being the first man to learn the ways of the Coda Sisterhood, but he declined, regarding it as too much of a commitment. However, Soldier picked up Coda nomenclature from her, referring to Zealot as "sister" and Savant as "little sister".

Forty years later, during an adventure when Zealot was in mortal danger and all her current allies were captured, Savant called on Soldier to join an ad-hoc group to rescue everyone.

With that done, Soldier traveled on. He was last reported moving from bar to bar across America, getting into fights.
