Jaco Birch was a Central City citizen until he accidentally was imbued with the pyrokinetic ability of Eric Frye that was stolen by Matthew Kim; he then became a supervillain known as The Hotness.

Pre-Crisis

Jaco Birch lived a normal life in Central City until March 2018 when, during a bank robbery, he witnessed Matthew Kim steal Eric Frye's pyrokinetic ability; Kim accidentally hit Birch to whom he inadvertently transferred the superpower.

Discovering that he was now a metahuman, Birch decided to become a supervillain, refererring to hismelf as The Hotness. He began causing destruction into Central City, forcing Kim to strip him of his abilities. As the power-stealing metahuman failed in defeating Hotness, the pyrokinetic supervillain was confronted by a speedster Iris West that eventually defeated Birch and allowed him to be arrested and sent to Iron Heights.[1]

Years later, Jaco Birch was erased from existence along with all the Earth-1 residents after the universe was annihilated by the Anti-Monitor's antimatter wave.[2]

Post-Crisis

After the Spectre and the Paragons rebooted the Multiverse,[3] Jaco Birch was restored to the existence on the newly born Earth-Prime.

In the new timeline, Jaco Birch was still the supervillain Hotness[4] but he obtained his powers in unknown circumstances as Erik Frye was shown to still be a metahuman.[5]
