Jacob Pierce is the son of King Jefferson and a prince of the Kingdom of Storms. He was killed by the White Martians and later raised from the dead.
History
Jacob was murdered by a White Martian wearing Zala Jor-El's form after Zala's father King Jor-El was assassinated on Jefferson's orders; as part of the Martian's larger scheme to spark war between the Kingdom of Storms and the Lands of El.[1][2] The Pierce's court magician John Constantine made a deal with the necromancer Ra's al Ghul to restore Jacob to life. The young prince was resurrected but was left confused and traumatised. Constantine told him that he could not return to his life and family, as he would be considered a monster, but together they would take revenge on the Els.[3]
The Kingdom of Storms and the Amazons invaded the Lands of El in retaliation for Jacob and his father's deaths. John took Jacob along with the army, hidden from sight in a wagon. When they arrived at the Castle of El, Zala and the Amazon princess Diana came out to treat with them. At John's instruction, Jacob created rain inside Zala's lungs and began to drown her. Jacob wavered as, having experienced death he was unwilling to kill another, but John urged him to continue. Another Martian in the form of Queen Lara suddenly flew down out of the sky and landed in the middle of the confrontation. The impact knocked over Jacob's carriage and he suffered a head injury. This broke his focus, stopping the rain in Zala's lungs.[4]
The Martian murdered Hippolyta, the Queen of the Amazons, and her daughter Diana ordered them to charge at the El army. The three armies fought a full-pitched battle, which abruptly stopped when the real Lara appeared and attacked her doppleganger, revealing the truth about the infiltrators.[5] Jacob climbed out of his wagon and stumbled over to where the leaders of the three armies had gathered, reuniting with his sisters. They were overjoyed to see him but realised Constantine must have done something terrible to bring him back and demanded to know what it was.[6]
Constantine and the advisors for the other kingdoms came up with a plan to defeat the White Martians once and for all by luring them to the dormant volcano and triggering an eruption; where Diana and the El's would battle them when they had been severely weakened by the flaming lava. That night, the Martians somehow brought down the bonfires surrounding the castle, but the Amazon defenders were ready for them and kept them pinned down. A messenger rode to the castle to tell them the Martians were attacking and so Anissa and Jennifer rode out to positions near the mountain as planned, while Jacob stayed behind to protect the castle.
The El's and Diana dove into the middle of the battle and drew the Martians away to the volcano. When they had surrounded it Anissa and and Jennifer summoned an earthquake and a huge bolt of lightning to trigger the eruption, while Jacob created a rainstorm to prevent the fires of the mountain reaching the castle. The Martians were doused in lava and severely injured or killed, but the El's and Amazon were unharmed, protected by their powers. They easily defeated the Martians and Lara banished the survivors to a Realm of Phantoms.[7]
