James Bartholomew "Jimmy" Olsen was the younger brother of Henry James Olsen.
History
In 2009, Jimmy attended his brother's funeral. Chloe Sullivan, his brother's ex-wife, gave Jimmy his brother's camera.[1]
Jimmy became inspired by his brother's life and decided to follow in his footsteps.[1] By 2013, Jimmy had become a photographer and been hired by the Daily Planet.[2] Working for the Daily Planet, he would frequently take photos of Superman. He also became close friends with his brother's old friends, Lois Lane and Clark Kent, who took the young man under their wings.[3]

- This version of the character is exclusive to the continuity of the television series Smallville and is an adaptation of Jimmy Olsen. The original character was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster and first appeared in Action Comics #6.
- The younger version of Jimmy Olsen was portrayed by Ryan Harder. The older version of Jimmy was portrayed by Aaron Ashmore, who also played Henry James Olsen.

- This character is only called "Olsen" onscreen.[2][3] A newspaper in "Homecoming" identifies him as "Jimmy Olsen".[4]
