Jim Gordon is a by-the-books police lieutenant working in Gotham City.

History

When all the city's big name criminals began being killed off one by one in a series of murders by the new vigilante Batman, Gordon went after him to bring him in.

However, after a sting operation gone wrong that caused Batman to kill most of his team and all the criminals in Blackgate and Arkham, Gordon went into hiding, attempted to piece together Batman's identity so he could retaliate.

After figuring out that Batman is Bruce Wayne, Gordon returned to Gotham and got an arrest warrant from Mayor Dent. Like he promised, Gordon put Wayne under arrest and brought him in, proving that law and order could still work.
