Lieutenant Jim Gordon is a determined, steely, and righteous policeman operating in Gotham City, and an ally and friend of the Batman. He was instrumental in taking down the Riddler and Carmine Falcone with the Batman.
History
Early career
Lieutenant Jim Gordon
Lieutenant Jim Gordon operated as a police officer in Gotham City, New York, under the command of Commissioner Savage. He was a level-headed, determined, and righteous man, working tirelessly to make his city a better place, and worked closely with Savage to take down notorious gangster Salvatore Maroni's drug operation. Despite the historic bust, crime continued to rise in the city with no end in sight.
When the wrathful vigilante known as the Batman began fighting crime and going up against Carmine Falcone's criminal organization in 2020, Gordon saw it as an opportunity to bend the rules for justice, given that the Batman operated outside the law. He formed a working relationship with Batman, and became his closest friend on the police force, being the one to operate the Bat-Signal to summon him when needed.[1]
The Riddler killings
During the holiday of Halloween, Mayor Don Mitchell Jr. was assassinated by the serial killer known as the Riddler, a killer who left clues for Batman, which started a search for Gordon, Batman and their companions to catch the murderer, although Savage refused to help. However, Gordon and Batman continue their investigation as they look for clues in the club of Carmine Falcone's right-hand man, The Penguin, and Batman goes to find answers in the club, and shortly after, Savage is killed, and Gordon tries to figure out. the trap the Riddler used to kill his former partner.
Suspecting police corruption
During Mitchell's funeral, Gordon watched as his former colleague, Gilbert Colson, had been manipulated by the Riddler into giving Batman a message, only to see Batman pass out after Colson's explosion. Gordon took Batman to the police station to save him, even though the cops wanted to catch him, but the two friends found out that there were corrupt cops, and Gordon allowed himself to be beaten by his friend so that he escaped. The duo would decipher the Riddler's message about a "rataalada" who was responsible for assisting in the arrest of mobster Salvatore Maroni, and they believed him to be the Penguin, so they went to confront him, and Gordon defended his friend who was left behind eat.
Gordon and Batman interrogated the Penguin for information, but the mobster had not been the one they were looking for, and they traveled to the abandoned Wayne Family orphanage, where they watched videos of how the late Thomas Wayne had a reporter killed so that psychological problems of his wife, Martha Arkham, were not revealed, and the videos were exposed by the Riddler. They both went to see the Bat-Signal, and found the thief, Selina Kyle, who tried to kill William Kenzie, another corrupt cop, but they saved the cop while Selina ran away to kill her father, Carmine Falcone.
The police managed to arrest Falcone until the Riddler killed Falcone on his own, and searched his apartment until they found his location, and Gordon and his companions managed to imprison the Riddler, who was revealed to be Edward Nashton, in the Arkham Asylum. Gordon was present when Bella Reál became the new mayor until the Riddler's followers began to attack and Gordon, Batman, the good cops, and Selina joined forces to take down the Riddler's followers, however, the Nashton's latest plan, was to flood Gotham, causing great devastation, but they knew they could start again, and Gordon would help Batman give the people of Gotham hope.[1]
