Master Olsen is the court astronomer to the House of El.
History
Young Jimmy Olsen was orphaned in a war and taken to Arkham Orphanage in Gotham town. Elizabeth Arkham, the cruel orphan keeper, performed experiments on the children but Jimmy was lucky enough to be adopted by the loving White family after a year. Jimmy had a fascination with the stars, which the Whites encouraged by giving him a telescope. One night during a stargazing session he met and befriended Prince Kal-El.
Children began to go missing from Gotham and one night Jimmy was snatched from the roof of his house. His parents begged King Jor-El and Queen Lara for help and they put out search parties, but Kal-El decided to look for him alone. Kal-El, along with Bruce Wayne and Princess Zala, tracked the children to a cave in the mountains. They found Jimmy and several other children from the orphanage with a giant bat and attacked it, but Jimmy stopped them and told them that the bat was Kirk Langstrom, a twelve year old boy from the orphanage who had been turned into a monster by Arkham's experiments. The orphanage was shut down and Arkham was arrested.[1]
Years later, Jimmy became the court astronomer. He saw a star fall to Earth in the Lands of Magnus, which he took as an ill omen. Bruce and the Master-at-Arms Alfred rode out to investigate.[2] They returned safely the next day, but Bruce mysteriously vanished immediately after returning.[3]
