Jan Arrah is Element Lad of the Legion of Super-Heroes. He was once used as a pawn by the psychic Titanians, and forced to lead his people on a genocide of the United Planets.

Jan Arrah was once a member of the initial Legion of Super-Heroes. However, when Saturn Girl's people, the Titanians, decided to impose their order on the universe, they psychically controlled Jan, and had him lead his powerful people, the Trommites, in a war on the United Planets.[1] This war became known as the Elemental Rapture, and resulted in the United Planets losing much influence, and Jan's old team collapsing.[2]

Despite the loss of the Legion, many of their old members still rebelled against the Trommites. Lightning Lad attempted to assassinate his old friend, and Ultra Boy regathered the Legion to stop him once and for all.[1] While Jan almost escaped, Saturn Girl got into his mind, and discovered the Titanian plot. Using her own psychic powers, Brainiac 7's tech, and Shadow Lass's portals, the new Legion managed to cut off the Titanian hivemind from the rest of the universe, freeing Jan from their control. His mindset restored, Jan returned to the Legion to make right what he had done.[2]
