Professor Jason Carlyle was a disgraced professor turned sadistic serial killer.
History
Carlyle was involved in a car crash; instead of saving his taxi driver, Carlyle procured his life's work and left the driver, a student, to die while onlookers watched. Without anywhere to turn to, Carlyle became a criminal, poisoning civilians while giving celebrities and people in positions of powers an ultimatum: destroy their own careers or have someone die. Detective Chloe Decker and Lucifer Morningstar hunted down Carlyle, tracking him to the lab of Pasadena University. Decker gave chase while Lucifer entered the lab filled with poison gas, and Carlyle committed suicide in front of Decker.[1]
Carlyle was sent to hell; Lucifer killed himself to travel there as well, requesting the cure to Carlyle's poison. Lucifer obtained it, and laughed as Carlyle continued to be haunted by the day of the car crash for eternity.[2]
