Professional History
Jason Momoa is an American film and television actor. Starting work as a model, he made his acting debut on Baywatch: Hawaii in 1999, and went on to star on Stargate Atlantis and Game of Thrones.[1] He auditioned to play Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy, though he lost the role to Dave Bautista.[2]
Momoa auditioned for the part of the Batman in the DC Extended Universe film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but instead landed the role of Aquaman, with the Batman role going to Ben Affleck.[3] He first appeared as Aquaman in a cameo role in Batman v Superman before making his first full appearance in Justice League (and by extension its director's cut, Zack Snyder's Justice League).
Momoa reprised the role in James Wan's Aquaman,[4] which was a massive commercial success.[5] He also voiced an alternate version of Aquaman in The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part[6] and went on to appear in Dune[7] and Fast X.[8]
He returned as the DCEU's Aquaman in Peacemaker,[9] The Flash, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the latter of which he received a story credit on. When James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios and rebooted the DCEU into the DCU, Momoa was cast as Lobo in Supergirl, set for a 2026 release.[10]
