Jason of Iolcus was the captain of the Argo ship, and commander of the Argonauts.

Favored of the goddess Hera, Jason gathered the Argonauts, the greatest assemblage of heroes the ancient world ever saw. They fought unimaginable perils to win the Golden Fleece of Colchis.[1]

During a trip to the city of Lemnos, he had a brief affair with its queen, Hypsipyle, which resulted in twins, Phthia and her unnamed brother.[3]

When Jason had lost Hera's good will, his looks left him and so did his luck and his friends. Lonesome and forgotten, he sat one day in the shade of his once-glorious ship, the Argo, then rotting on the beach of Corinth. Suddenly the sacred piece of oak in the prow broke off, fell on him, and killed him.[4]

Thousands of years after his death, Zeus revived Jason and the Argonauts as part of the Gargareans. Jason became the lieutenant of Achilles Warkiller.[5]
