Java is the most populous island of Indonesia.
History
During the Second World War, the island of Java, in the Greater Sunda Islands Archipelago, was part of the Dutch East Indies. During that war several naval battles were fought in this vicinity, most famously the Battle of Makassar Strait.[1][2]
