Javelin was a German Olympic athlete who became a sadistic and violent Green Lantern villain, using weaponized javelins in his crimes and attacks. He was later captured and became a member of the Suicide Squad.
History
Origin
The man who would become the Javelin was an Olympic athlete, who for unknown reasons became a criminal. Using his talent, he has created an unusual arsenal of weapons based on spears. Javelin hired a gang of thugs and became a mercenary. In his first encounter with Green Lantern, Javelin was hired by Jason Bloch to steal a solar-powered engine from Ferris Aircraft, which he in turn used to build a rocket aimed at Ferris. In his first round, he defeated Green Lantern with his various gimmicks. However, the Lantern stopped his plans in their rematch and captured him, retrieving the stolen engine and saving Ferris Aircraft from being destroyed.[1]
Suicide Squad
Later, he agreed to serve with the Suicide Squad in exchange for the acquittal of his crimes. During a field mission, he and the Squad fought against Circe during the so called War of the Gods. Javelin was apparently killed when Circe impaled him on his own spear.
This was not the end however. He reappeared with a cadre of villains paid to attack Deadshot. Deadshot managed to shoot one of Javelin's exploding javelins and the explosion seemed to once again kill the villain.[2]
One Year Later
One year later, Javelin had connected with the Suicide Squad once again. The group was betrayed by Tattooed Man and Javelin was hit by a car. The rest of the group left him behind thinking he had been killed.[3]
Cry for Justice
He reappears during the events of Cry for Justice, where he is one of the villains assembled by Prometheus to steal technology. The group was beaten quickly by the Justice League. Javelin was the only remaining villain. He was about to launch a javelin at the group when he was knocked out by Supergirl.[4]
