Javier Basualdo was the unwilling host of Blood Scarab.
History
Javier Basualdo and his friends came from Argentina, and after years of saving they finally began Javier's dream field expedition the Pyramids of Kha-Ef-Re. He had read in the journal of Dan Garrett that one of the Pyramids had exploded decades ago and wanted to see the tomb for himself. Upon entering the tomb, he could feel a pull from the Blood Scarab. It immediately latched onto his chest, and subsumed his actions, controlling his decisions, destroying the life he once had.[1]
As the Blood Scarab, Javier battled Blue Beetle and his allies, nearly killing several of them.[2][3][4] Javier was able to resist the will of Kha-Ef-Re long enough to allow Khaji Da to kill him and eliminate the threat from the Blood Scarab.[1]
Months later, after seeing him helping Jaime in a vision of the Beetle's trials, Madame Xanadu and Traci 13 resurrect Javier Basualdo without the spirit of Kha-Ef-Re to atone for his sins.[5]
