Jeff Jones (b. January 10, 1944 – d.May 19, 2011) was a comic book artist.

Professional History

Jeffrey Catherine Jones was a fantasy painter and occasional comics artist. During the mid-to-late 1970s, she shared an art space with Bernie Wrightson, Barry Windsor-Smith and Mike Kaluta, collectively named The Studio. Frank Frazetta once called her "the greatest living painter". She won the World Fantasy Award for best artist in 1986.

Personal History

Jeff Jones was transgender. Though she had her middle name legally changed from Durwood to Catherine in 1998, she retained her birth name of Jeffrey and remained credited as "Jeff". She died in 2011 from emphysema.

Jones was married to fellow comics pro Louise Simonson (then known as Mary Louise Alexander) from 1966 to 1970. They had one daughter.
