Jenny Crisis is a Century Baby and the Spirit of the 21st Century.
History
Jennifer Cressi was born at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Day 2000, the daughter of social worker Octavia DeVeau and her unemployed husband James Cressi. She was somehow conceived despite James having a vasectomy and the couple using contraception. James quickly abandoned them and Octavia raised Jennifer alone. She developed extreme anxiety and by age twelve her panic attacks were coinciding with random, extreme events nearby and around the world. They moved frequently to avoid Jennifer being taken by social services, as her mother knew that she would suffer in the system.
In 2018, Jennifer noticed the pattern between her mood swings and catastrophes and so chose to estrange herself from society, wandering around the world and deliberately avoiding personal connections. In 2024 she ended up in London, finally succumbed to loneliness and decided to throw a party. Her joy ensured that it was the greatest party that the attendees had ever seen. At the party she met a woman named Kels and fell in love with her. They spent a blissful, whirlwind day of romance together, creating the best day of the twenty-first century as a wave of positivity spread around the world. However, Kels abruptly dumped her by text that night and Jennifer had her worst panic attack in years, resulting in two days of violence and chaos around the globe.
The Outsiders came to London to try and neutralise her. Batwing and Batwoman chased her through the Underground, but Jennifer evaded them and ran back up to the surface, where Drummer was waiting for her. Drummer told Jennifer who she was and offered to teach her to control her powers, but Jenny told her that she didn't need anyone to tell her how to live. She demonstrated how she could discharge her powers safely and declared that she was "Jenny Crisis" and would make sure she made the century better than she found it. Batwing and Batwoman caught up to them, but Drummer told them that Jenny was not a threat and could find her own way, and the Outsiders departed.[1]
Jenny journeyed to even more remote places outside human civilisation so she could "listen" to the weave and weft of the world without distractions. By doing this she was able to sense other Century Babies around the world. She learned that Jinny Hex was in trouble and asked the Outsiders to help Jinny, as she was busy intervening in a war in the Middle East.[2] Batwoman later called in Jenny, Jinny and an infant sea monster to try and stop Drummer's attempt to use the Multiversal Cannon to destroy reality and restore her own erased universe, but she easily overpowered them all.[3]
Although Drummer succeeded in destroying the Infinite Frontier and entering the Multiversal Library, the Outsiders were able to convince her to make a better story than the one she had been given. She rewrote the timeline so that she fired herself through the Cannon rather than the "cosmic bullet" she had originally used, restoring reality. Jenny joined the Outsiders organisation, and began organising her fellow Century Babies to "save the world".[4]

Powers
- Spirit of the 21st Century: Jenny was born on the stroke of midnight of the 31st December, 1999/1st January, 2000. She embodies the rolling crises of the 21st century, yet also the potential for the world to become better and stronger through them.
- Decelerated Aging: Presumably, like all Spirits of the Century, Jenny will live for one hundred years and not age past her twenties. However, she is still a young adult so her aging has not yet arrested.
- Empathy: Jenny subconsciously causes people close to her and around the world to mimic her emotional state. She also has the power to deliberately induce strong emotions in people or transfer her emotions into others.
- Energy Projection: Jenny can fire concussive blasts of raw emotional energy.
- Enhanced Senses: Jenny has the power to "listen" to the world, allowing her to sense other Century Babies, determine where they are and if they are in trouble.
- Probability Manipulation: When Jenny experiences intense emotion she can cause random events to occur around the world, either positive or destructive depending on her mood.
- Superhuman Strength: Jenny can punch hard enough to crack a concrete wall and kick a steel door off its hinges.

Notes
- Jenny Quantum was previously identified as the Spirit of the 21st Century. According to Drummer, Jenny Quantum has disappeared and presumably been replaced by Jenny Crisis, likely as a result of the various multiversal reboots.
- Jenny's first crush was a boy named Connor Cruz, and later she fell in love with a woman named Kels.
