Jerome Odetts was a man who found himself in the way of Lex Luthor.
History
Jerome Odetts owned a farmhouse in what would become Metropolis' Hypersector. He refused to sell his land to Lex Luthor, causing Luthor to make threats against him. Odetts had a comet containing the being Kismet, who was hiding out from fellow cosmic being Dominus.[1] Odetts' house was almost bombed, but was saved by Superman.[2] A short time later, a gas leak and another bomb almost blew up Odetts' home again.[3]
Accidents kept occurring around Odetts' home, prompting Superman to save it and him.[4] Some time later, Odetts was ordered to leave his home by the city of Metropolis (the expropriation order was personally delivered by Lex Luthor). Clark Kent and Lois Lane wrote an article which led to protests that convinced the Metropolis city council to add the Odetts Farm to the National Registry of Historic Places.[5]
