The Golem was a protector of Jews in Prague.

History

When the Jewish people were being persecuted in the ghettos of 16th Century Prague, Rabbi Loew used Jewish mysticism to create the Golem. Without a soul, the creature proved monstrous. A council of rabbis decided their protector should have a human host and replaced the Golem with a ragman.
