Jimmy Thompson (b. October 3, 1907 – d.September 16, 1949) was a comic book artist.

Professional History

Thompson started work as a photography clerk at a newspaper and then started making sports cartoons. By the thirties, he was popular enough to have his work featured in US newspapers, both under his own name and ghosting more popular artists. He started writing and drawing comic book stories in the late thirties, mostly western stories. His first super-hero work was Robotman for DC in 1943. During the War, he was in demand as he was not called up for service.

He passed away at the age of 41.
