Notes

  • Clem Thurso's flashbacks from the following issue imply that this story occurs in (the spring of) 2020. This means that this issue and the This Sceptred Isle storyline already take place in the paradoxical timeline of Prime Earth born after Perpetua broke Hypertime.[1]
  • The alternate Vertigo Constantine unlocks John's future memories he got after merging with his time-traveling counterpart in The Sandman Universe Presents: Hellblazer #1.
  • The appearance of The Long Journey's End is a callback to the epilogue of Hellblazer #300, in which Constantine makes a brief cameo in the pub. It has never been clarified whether Constantine died and the pub represented an afterlife Limbo, or if he was simply teleported to a bar where he could live a normal life. The events of this story suggest that— at least in one possible future— he truly did find happiness.
  • This issue is reprinted in John Constantine: Hellblazer: The Best Version of You.
