John Fitzgerald Kennedy was the 35th president of the United States from 1961 until his assassination near the end of his third year in office.
History
A time-displaced Superman a promise to Kennedy that he would make it so that future generations wouldn't have to fight for a better world, for a finer world. Following Kennedy's death, after returning to his own time, Superman would seek to fufill his promise with the creation of the Justice League.[1]
However, many years later, the League had not achieved this goal, and thus was partially viewed as a failure by Superman. To better fufill his promise, Superman formed a new team: The Authority.[2]
