For the antagonist turned ally of Superman in Superman & Lois, see John Henry Irons (Arrowverse: Controlled Burn).
John Henry Irons was a former Army Specialist First Class who later became an arms dealer.
History
John Henry came from a military family; he, his father and sister all served. After he got out of the army, he became increasingly withdrawn and paranoid, and there were rumours that he was selling weapons to criminals like Lex Luthor and Bruno Mannheim, the head of Intergang. His father confronted him and John Henry did not deny the rumours, instead cutting all ties with his family and disappearing. Irons had in fact started building weapons for Intergang, but he refused to go along with the group's worst actions, as he wanted to be a hero and make a positive change in the world.[1][2]
John Irons was murdered by Mannehim's wife and enforcer Peia. Mannheim was investigated for the crime but there wasn't sufficient evidence to charge him.[3][4]
