John Ostrander (b. April 20, 1949) is a comic book writer best known at DC Comics for creating the Michael Holt incarnation of Mister Terrific and the modern incarnation of the Suicide Squad.

Professional History

John Ostrander is an American comic book writer. He began his career as a comic book writer in 1983 working for First Comics on the title Warp. His first published work for DC Comics was in 1986 on the miniseries Legends (Volume 1). Ostrander contributed for some other titles including Suicide Squad (Volume 1), Deadshot (Volume 1), Catwoman (Volume 2), Hawkworld (Volume 2), Spectre (Volume 3), and many more.

Most recently he wrote the Aquaman Annual (Volume 7) #1 and also Star Wars for Dark Horse Comics.

Ostrander has made a cameo appearance as Doctor Fitzgibbon in the 2021 film The Suicide Squad, which took major inspiration from his original 1980s run on the Suicide Squad comics.

Personal History

Ostrander studied theology with the intent of becoming a Catholic priest and originally he worked as an actor in Chicago.
