Synopsis for "A Crude Offer"

A posse is riding through the woods after a group of men who have holed up in a makeshift tower with a Gatling gun. Jonah Hex has been hired as a part of the posse and is offered twice the money if he does something about the Gatling gun. He charges the tower, kills the gunners and turns the Gatling on the outlaws.

The marshal takes Hex back to his house and his wife offers Hex dinner. Hex would rather just get paid and leave, but since the bank won't be open until the morning, Hex agrees. After dinner, Hex and the marshal go sit on the porch and drink. It is here that Hex learns the marshal is impotent and the sheriff proposes that Hex get his wife pregnant, but Hex is having none of it. That's when the drug kicks in. It seems that the marshal drugged Hex's drink to make him more cooperative. Hex fights the drug and fights off the marshal and his wife. He tells the marshal to meet him in town in the morning with the money owed him and to think about why he didn't kill the marshal.

In the morning, the marshal meets Hex in town and gives him his money. As Hex is leaving, the marshal draws his gun and tells Hex to stop. Hex tells him if he's not happy with his life, then he should pull the trigger and Hex will put an end to his life. The marshal puts away his gun and Hex rides on.
