The once Kryptonian scientist predicted the doom of his world but his soft words did not reach those who made war. While testing his new rocket Krypton exploded leaving him the only survivor.

He headed for Earth were went to work for Lex Luthor. After an accident with experimental jet fuel forced him to show his true self, Luthor made a deal: Jor-El would take his place, if Luthor could explore the stars with his spaceship.
