Jordan Weir, also known as the Puppeteer or Puppet-Master, was a scientist turned professional criminal.

Using his talents for crime, Jordan invented a hypno-ray to force other people to commit his crimes. During his earlier crimes, back when he was known as the Puppet-Master, he carried a series of robberies in Coast City, where he corssed paths with Green Lantern (Hal Jordan). Failing to get rid of his opposition in an initial attempt, Puppet Master used his ray to control Green Lantern, but the hero resisted his control and defeated Puppet Master in his lair.[1]

Later, the Puppet-Master joined other notorious criminals to battle the Justice League of America, but they were captured by Green Arrow.[citation needed]

After finishing a prison term, Weir was hired by the criminal organization H.I.V.E. to steal the Promethium formula from Dayton Industries. As the Puppeteer, Weir used his puppets to murder four members of the council in charge of the Project: Promethium. Fighting against the Teen Titans, Weir succeeded in putting four of them under his control, but the Titans broke free and confronted the Puppeteer at his lair, forcing him to flee, both from the Titans and H.I.V.E., who tried to kill him for his failure.[2]

At some point, the Puppeteer was forced to work with the Wildebeest Society.[3] His whereabouts and activities after that event are unknown.

  • Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-One era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985–86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis New Earth continuity, and should be considered apocryphal.
