Josef Denisovich, also known as Josef Danoff, was the first soldier to succesfully become a Rocket Red.

History

Josef met the Green Lantern Kilowog, who got tired of the democratic view of his fellow Green Lanterns and decided to experience communism in the Soviet Union. Kilowog agreed to help the Soviets on the Rocket Red project, and he became friends with Josef. With Kilowog's aid, Josef became the first soldier to wear a Rocket Red Armor. When the conflict between the Soviet Union and America reached a critical point, Gorbachev accused Kilowog of being a spy, so he ordered Josef to kill the Green Lantern. Both friends battled, even though they didn't want things to end like that. Rejecting Kilowog's idea to defect from his Motherland, Josef kept pushing against the Green Lantern, and the fight ended with Josef's death.
