The Commander was an enemy faced by the Justice League of America and the Justice Society of America.
History
Joshua Champion was a research scientist who accidentally discovered a pathway to another dimension. Possessed by the malevolent entity which rules that dimension, he attempted to invade Earth as The Commander, leading a horde of creatures from the other dimension, but Champion was freed from the alien's control and the creature exiled back to its home dimension by the Justice League of America, the Justice Society of America and Supergirl, with the assistance of Champion's son, daughter and sister (and the Monitor, accidentally). The Champion family then departed for an extended vacation, traveling between dimensions.

- This version of Commander, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022–2023. Even though other versions of the character may have appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
