Julia Kapatelis was the mother of Vanessa Kapatelis, who became the supervillain known as Silver Swan after Julia died.
History
Julia had a daughter, Vanessa, who was a talented dancer but Vanessa's ambitions were cut short when she was caught in an attack by the supervillain Major Disaster. While Disaster was captured by Wonder Woman, Vanessa was hospitalised in the attack and was paralysed below her waist. Diana and Julia made sure to spend as much time as possible comforting Vanessa in hospital which resulted in Diana and Vanessa becoming very close. Vanessa was late chosen to undergo experimental nanite surgery and with Julia and Diana's support, Vanessa soon began regaining the use of her legs. Overtime Diana gradually visited the Kapatelis less and less. While Julia understood that Diana had responsibilities elsewhere, Venessa became increasingly lonely from her friend's absence.[1] Shortly afterwards Julia died in a car accident, causing Vanessa's physical and mental health to spiral downwards which would eventually cumulate into her becoming the villian Silver Swan, although she would later be healed by Diana.[2]
Notes
- Julia Kapatelis was created by George Pérez and Len Wein, first appearing in Wonder Woman (Volume 2) #3. However, in the Prime Earth continuity, Julia Kapatelis first appeared as part of the New 52 DC Universe in Wonder Woman (Volume 5) #38 by James Robinson and Emanuela Lupacchino.
