Synopsis for "Paradise Lost, Part I"
Wonder Woman and Superman help in protecting the citizens of Beach City from a tropical storm. When rescuing a little girl and returning her to her mother, Diana is reminded about her mother Hippolyta and realize that she has been gone from Themyscira for too long. On Superman's encouragement, Diana returns to her home island.
Upon arriving to Themyscira, Diana is shocked to find all her Amazon sisters and her mother having been turned into stone. She is then approach by a sorcerer, Felix Faust, who is responsible for the Amazons' conditions and claims that he only seeks knowledge. He tells her that he can turn the Amazons back to normal, in which he briefly restore Hippolyta to demonstrate, in exchange for Wonder Woman to gather the pieces of an artifact that he is searching for. Diana reluctantly accepts Faust's blackmail and is given mystic gems that will help her find the artifacts.
Wonder Woman find the first artifact at a museum. After appropriating the artifact, it is revealed that the artifacts have a mystical security system in which the one taken by Diana cause a giant statue to come to life and attack her. Wonder Woman is able to destroy the statue along with much of the museum. The Justice League soon confronted Diana, who she then reluctantly explain to them about the situation with Faust. Regardless Batman, Superman, J'onn, and Flash offer to help. Batman chose to investigate Faust's background while the others search for the other artifacts.
Flash and J'onn recover a artifact in a jungle ruin and defeat its guardian, a giant fire-breathing snake. Superman and Wonder Woman uncover the last one underneath a shopping mall. However, the artifact creates an illusion which makes Wonder Woman and Superman to see each other as demons, causing them to fight each other. Fortunately, the two soon see through the illusion from their reflections on mirrors.
As the League continued their artifact hunt, Felix Faust talks to his unknown benefactor, confidently stating that the world will soon be theirs.
