Synopsis for "Secret Origins, Part III"

J'onn, Diana, Green Lantern, and Flash regrouped in Metropolis to rescue Superman and Hawkgirl. J'onn informs them that they don't have much time as the invaders' leader, the Imperium, will be arriving soon. Flash creates a diversion and providing the others to breach the invaders' facility. They soon find Superman and Hawkgirl in a holding cell, but fallen into a trap - Superman and Hawkgirl are actually the invaders in disguise.

The heroes are captured and brought alongside with the real Superman and Hawkgirl to face, to their shock, Senator J. Allen Carter. The Senator is really an shape-shifting alien who took over the identity of the real Carter, who in fact died on Mars. The faux-Carter explains to them that using his human persona he spied on Earth, learning everything about the planet's defenses and tricking humanity into disarming their most powerful weapons, and allowing the aliens to invade with ease. With no obstacles left, the invaders' mothership is summon to Earth, and from out of the vessel the Imperium appear before the heroes.

The Imperium recognize J'onn and begins to torture him. As the Imperium taunt over the Martian's failure and his defeat, J'onn states otherwise. Batman suddenly appears, surprising everyone. J'onn explains that he telepathically shielded Batman from detection until then. Batman has used the time to sabotage the ion crystal, reversing the field's polarity. The clouds part, and the sun shines through the opening in the factory's roof, as the aliens begins to die from the sunlight. Batman frees the heroes and they take advantage of the invaders. The Imperium retreats back to its shuttle and leaving the faux-Carter to die. However, Diana lassoed the shuttle, which Hawkgirl further damages with her mace, and swings it into the factory, destroying both it and the Imperium. The heroes quickly evacuates the captured humans being held, before the factory explodes.

With their leader dead and their factories destroyed, the surviving invaders flee Earth. The people of Earth rejoice of their victory, but skeptics such as General Wells warn that there may be similar extra-terrestrial threats that may threaten Earth again in the future.

The heroes are assembled aboard a large space station that was built and launched in secret by Wayne Enterprises. Batman explains that the station will serve as an advance warning in case of another invasion. Superman had called for the assembly to address the heroes that the invasion had proven that Earth cannot be protected by himself. Instead, their cooperation and teamwork saved the world in which Superman calls for forming a team that "work for the ideals of peace and justice" known as the Justice League. The heroes agree with Superman's proposal in their own way. Batman is reluctant to join, but assures that he will help the League when needed. J'onn remains the only one to holdout, as he watches the stars from the station's windows. He tells Superman that he is the last of his kind. Superman says he can relate, and assures J'onn that he doesn't have to be alone anymore.
