- I know what you think of yourself, Bobo. But a few weeks ago, you faced a magical crisis and dove head-first, trying to solve it. I'm sure you have a witty way to pawn that off as selfishness, but I know there is good in you. You want these people to live. You want to be the kind of man Jim Rook saw in you.
Synopsis for "The Shadow Pact, Part Two"
Blue Devil informs the team that Bobo, in a desperate attempt to bring back the previous Nightmaster Jim Rook from the dead, used an old tome he had to cast a spell on the whole world of Myrra, making a mess out of it. Zatanna explains that while on Earth magic is about to create something impossibile inside a possible reality, in Myrra is far different, as magic is about to create something impossibile inside an impossible reality, itself created by magic in the past. Bobo broke the laws of death in Myrra, and this could cause a collapse of Hell and Heaven, all meanwhile the Otherkind awaits to breakthrough and eat magic itself.
Zatanna fears that Bobo is the member of the team his father, Giovanni Zatara, told her would bring the end of magic in his prophecy. She thought it was Diana, but as they defeated Hecate her assumptions were revealed to be wrong. They have to act quick to reverse the enchantment: Zatanna calls for every warlock in Myrra, but Blue Devil tells her that the warlocks already told him that killing Bobo is the only solution. Still, Diana does not want to even hear the idea of killing one of her comrades: she goes to the prisons and convinces Bobo to take responsibility for his role and doing something to reverse the mess he created.
Bobo finds a way to do it, after all he is an hyper-intelligent detective, and Myrra, and maybe something more, is finally safe. Blue Devil, before the team goes away, tells Detective Chimp he knows what is his mission: he must find Jim's son, the true heir to the Nightmaster title, and give him the sword. Then, the Blue Devil speaks with Diana privately, telling her that trusting Bobo to do what should be done is dangerous and could lead to the demise of the whole team.
Meanwhile, the Phantom Stranger and Nabu fight for the destiny of magic: the Stranger tries to make Nabu understand that magic is part of Order itself, even if chaotic, but fails in doing so. In the end, Nabu imprisons the Stranger in the Helm of Fate, making Constantine take an hard decision: he will sacrifice himself to Fate, making Alec promising to keep Zatanna safe as they both are key to the survival of magic. And maybe, in the case of the sorceress, also for a completely different matter. After writing on his arm, Constantine is trapped inside the Helm himself. Swamp Thing then appears in the Oblivion Bar, telling to the rest of the team Nabu won and opened the door to the Otherkind. A message then appears on the arm of Zatanna, carved in blood by the writing of Constantine: it tells her to find Mordru.
