Synopsis for "Repossessions"
The JLI's New York embassy is in terrible shape after the battle with the Khunds[1] and the Leaguers need to pitch in to clean up. When Oberon announces that there had been a call for him, Blue Beetle and his partner, Booster Gold, duck out of clean-up duty, angering Guy and J'onn.
Aboard the Bug, the duo have changed into their costumes to impress their customer, who has hired them for a lucrative repo job. They arrive at Jacobs Research Labs where they are told that they must repossess a creature named Caitiff, who feeds on human blood, and resembles the legendary vampires.
Caitiff was last seen at an old sewage plant.[2] Beetle and Booster stomp through the sewers in an effort to pick up his trail and find an underground abattoir full of bones—but the bones are not human. Rather, the skulls resemble the vampire-like creature they have been hired to capture.
Caitiff attacks them. At first he has the advantage of surprise, but when the heroes turn the tide, Caitiff becomes defensive, claiming that, unlike men, his people kill only to survive. Booster, becoming sympathetic, offers to help the creature by taking him to S.T.A.R. Labs, but to the creature, it will only mean more torture. Caitiff flees.
The heroes give chase, finding Caitiff impaled on a stalagmite at the bottom of a pit—apparently, he committed suicide rather than face capture. They decide not to collect on the vampire's body and return Justice League International headquarters, where Guy Gardner is patiently waiting above a doorway with a 200 lb. weight set to drop on their heads.
