Synopsis for "The Signal Masters, Part 3"

Under Booster Gold's direction from a surveillance van outside the ruined Hall of Justice, the JLI splits into four teams to investigate the caverns beneath each of the four towering Signalmen. In Peru, Booster creates a blinding glare to distract the Signalman so Batman can sneak into the hidden cavern, where he uncovers traces of a UN science team and presses deeper underground. In the Russian Arctic, Ice and Rocket Red use an ice-formed submersible to descend to the ocean floor and break through into another ancient, pre-human cavern. Meanwhile in South Africa, Fire and Vixen tunnel downward—Vixen borrowing badger-like digging powers—but are set upon by small, rock-like humanoids and carried deeper into the caves. In Canada, August General in Iron and Lady Godiva descend through a newly opened hole, where they too are ambushed by the same subterranean humanoids; the General's display of force scares them off, though more lies ahead. Back in Peru, Batman and Booster discover massive alien machines tended by those rock creatures; as Batman hacks their systems, they're overwhelmed and besieged. At the van, Biggs loses contact and panics when a colossal spaceship appears in orbit. Green Lantern Guy Gardner launches himself outside to investigate, only to be ambushed on board—and knocked out—by the sinister Peraxxus.
