Synopsis for "The Day the Earth Screams"

When Starbreaker comes to Earth and easily defeats the Justice League's mightiest members -- Superman, the Flash, and Green Lantern -- the team is plunged into despair. Hawkman inspires the others by suggesting that they re-view the events of the first case that brought them together which they do by means of videotapes in their records library. Batman then deduces that since Starbreaker feeds on the energy of negative emotions such as fear, he can be beaten by harnessing the positive emotional energy of mankind. As the members try to decide how to accomplish this, Sargon the Sorcerer materializes in the satellite headquarters.

Notes

  • This book was first published on January 20, 1972.
  • It is mentioned that Superman is now immune to Green Kryptonite. This infers that Sand Superman Saga changes are valid, so Superman is with only 1/3 of his power in this issue, what would explain why his attacks do no damage to Starbreaker.
  • The story flashbacks are used from the original pages published in Justice League of America #9, written by Gardner Fox, penciled by Mike Sekowsky and inked by Bernard Sachs.

Trivia

  • No trivia.
