Synopsis for "Indestructible"

Nathan Heywood dreams of his grandfather, and of the recent slaughter of his family at the hands of the Fourth Reich. He suddenly awakens inside the medical wing of JSA Headquarters. Still haunted by images of Captain Nazi, Nate springs from the medical table and begins displaying extreme feats of brute strength - a power he has never known before. Further, his previously missing right leg has now been replaced. Doctor Mid-Nite calms him down and explains that his altercation with Fourth Reich member Reichsmark caused his entire body to transform into organic steel. Unfortunately, Heywood's strength level is beyond control, and Mid-Nite warns him not to touch anything. Later, he takes him to St. Anthony's hospital to visit the surviving members of his family.

In Opal City, Superman visits the Sunshine Sanitarium to see Starman. Sharing a meal of Sloppy Joe's, he asks him about the Legion of Super-Heroes and their true purpose for coming back to the 21st century. He wants to know if their actual mission was to bring back Wally West and his family. Starman is elusive, and admits that he has little knowledge of recent events.

Back in Battery Park, Mister Terrific and Hawkman forge a suit of flexible steel armor to encase Heywood's body. The suit is designed in the image of his grandfather's Commander Steel costume and reduces his enhanced strength to a more manageable level. Heywood appreciates the effort, but tells them that he has no desire to follow in his grandfather's footsteps. Power Girl enters the room and tells the group that members of the American Supremacist Party have raided New York University and are holding hostages. They are demanding the release of Captain Nazi. Power Girl asks Heywood if he would be interested in helping the JSA bring them down.

The team assembles and the arrive at NYU. Heywood is still having difficulty controlling his newfound mobility and strength, and he leaves potholes across the sidewalk with every step that he takes. Power Girl tells him to wait outside the building to "play catch". Cyclone creates several wind-tunnels and propels the JSA members inside the building. They funnel the A.S.P. members outside into Heywood's arms. Nate sees a Swastika medal on of their uniforms and crushes it. He then incapacitates every thug that the JSA members throw his way.

When the threat level abates, the press corps begins storming the campus. One reporter refers to Nate as the new Commander Steel, but Power Girl corrects her and gives Nate a new name - Citizen Steel. Afterwards, they bring Nate back to St. Anthony's to spend more time with his family.
