Superman, birth name Kal-El and adopted name Clark Kent, is Earth's premiere superhero, the stalwart protector of Metropolis and a member of the Justice League.

The Beginning

The Justice League is fighting an invasion of villains led by Lex Luthor. Superman fights Ares, the God of War, and manages to incapacitate him, allowing Wonder Woman and Aquaman to bind his hands. Then, Superman attempts to get to the Watchtower and stop Luthor personally, but Doomsday lands nearby. Superman attempts to tackle him, but Doomsday backhands him aside.

The Justice League fights Doomsday and then manage to tackle him into the ground. Superman then tackles Doomsday before he can attack the Flash and Green Arrow, flying him into deep space. The Man of Steel is absent when the League attempts to prevent the Joker from devastating Metropolis with a nuclear device provided to him by Luthor as a contingency plan, and thus misses the disappearance of Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Aquaman and the Joker.

Later at the Watchtower, Superman, Flash and Cyborg begin to trace their energy signatures to find where they went. Barry concocts a plan to bring them back to their world using a modified Cosmic Treadmill. After the heroes finish their work on the Treadmill, they run a test on it. When the treadmill begins to go haywire, Superman orders Cyborg to shut it down, but it is too late and Cyborg is pulled into the parallel dimension. With Cyborg gone, Superman and the Flash discuss repairs for the modified Cosmic Treadmill. Superman urges Barry to keep trying, as it may be their friends' only way home.

Afterwards, Superman is brought to the alternate universe, where Batman and his alternate self explain that they need his help to defeat Superman's alternate counterpart, who has become a ruthless dictator. Superman and the Batmen study the situation and realize the High Councilor has brought the Regime Doomsday into the fight. Before fighting his alternate self, Superman decides that he will need to take the fight with Doomsday elsewhere.

Superman quickly speeds off to Gotham, and stops the alternate Black Adam from crushing Aquaman under a car. Superman orders Adam to stop and to return to his kingdom in Kahndaq. Adam responds by attacking Clark, but is easily pushed back by a single punch. Black Adam begins throwing cars at Superman, taunting his weakness and claiming that his counterpart based his regime on his own kingdom in Kahndaq and that he allowed no insurrections. Despite Adam's claims that his power equals Clark's, Superman overcomes the fallen champion of mortals, proclaiming the evil of the regime must end.

Adam attempts one final attack, only to be frozen by Superman's freeze breath. Suddenly, Regime Sinestro viciously strikes him over and over again with a powerful mace construct. The heroic Man of Steel is seemingly felled by the alien warlord but reveals he completely dodged the attacks with his speed. Superman then easily strips Sinestro of his ring and powers and manages to convince the Regime Hal Jordan to peacefully remove and hand over his own ring, bringing a small smile to Clark's face.

Superman quickly flies to Metropolis and freezes the Regime Aquaman's tidal wave with his freeze breath and throws it over the horizon. Aquaman challenges Superman to take on the might of Atlantis. In response, Clark reveals his backup: the alternate Earth's Amazons, led by his world's Wonder Woman after she defeated her corrupted counterpart.

As the Amazons and Atlanteans battle in the streets of Metropolis, Superman and the evil Arthur duel, with the latter proclaiming he is not wanted here. Superman overcomes Arthur and acknowledges that while he may not be wanted, he is clearly needed. Returning to Diana, he is informed of the Atlanteans' retreat and tells her to begin helping with rescue and recovery. The two exchange some friendly banter and Clark prepares to tell her something else when he is struck by a Regime vehicle and knocked through several buildings. Confronted by the mind-controlled Doomsday, Superman engages the beast in a brutal battle - when the monster proves to be a superior fighter, Superman tackles Doomsday into the skies, flying himself and the struggling beast into the atmosphere and then crashing both of them into his counterpart's Fortress of Solitude. Doomsday recovers first and stands over a winded Clark, breathing with anticipation, "I live to kill you."

Clark rises up and tells Doomsday he will live disappointed, and the two battle in the Fortress. Despite the monster having once killed him before, Superman overcomes the ancient Kryptonian nightmare and sends it into the Phantom Zone to be safely contained. Exhausted but far from finished, Clark suddenly looks up and sees the evil Superman, the High Councilor, slowly floating down towards him.

The alternate Superman is unsurprised to see his duplicate - having expected the Insurgents to bring him here eventually - and says that the heroic Man of Steel does not belong. Superman replies that his obligations do not end at the borders of his own dimension. The High Councilor proclaims he is this world's savior and that he protects it. Unconvinced, the heroic Superman asks if his counterpart's idea of "protection" is destruction; the evil Superman retorts that "disobedient children" will be punished.

A shocked Superman tries to remind his alternate self that they are not gods and that they do not decide who lives and who dies. Unfortunately, the High Councilor is too far gone to listen to reason - he rants that the decision became his when the Joker turned him "into a weapon of mass destruction". The heroic Superman understands what the High Councilor lost, but the corrupted Kryptonian only sees his judgment, and not his condolence. He then announces his intent to bring the prime universe's Lois to live in his world, but the good Superman points out that "She'll be afraid and disgusted" by the alternate Superman's actions.

As the High Councilor furiously points out that Lois will still be alive, Superman finally realizes that everything his counterpart has done was out of grief and rage over what the Joker made him do to his wife. He tries to tell his alternate Superman that Lois' death does not justify his actions, but the High Councilor insists that "He stole her from me!" Seeing that his alternate will not be reminded of their morals, Superman decides that he must defeat his evil counterpart to return this world's freedom and save his own Lois from his mad doppelganger's clutches. With a final exchange over their roles as saviors, the High Councilor claiming that he saved the world and the good Superman declaring, "And now I'm saving it from you!", the twin last sons of Krypton commence their final battle within the Fortress. Though their battle is fierce and the two Supermen are equally matched, Clark overcomes his alternate and declares his reign is over.

Unwilling to give up, the High Councilor attempts one last assault with his heat vision, but Superman deflects it with a blast of his own, blinding the evil Superman for a moment, allowing the heroic Man of Steel to tackle his alternate self and beat him into submission. The heroic Superman proclaims that the High Councilor will no longer terrorize the people of this Earth, but the fallen Superman retorts that all they understand is fear - a fact that his duplicate will one day understand. As the heroic Superman's friends and the alternate Batman arrive in the Fortress, the evil Superman looks to "his" Bruce and proclaims that Batman will have to kill him. The alternate Batman refuses, saying there has been enough killing, and takes his former friend into custody.

Aftermath

Over the next several weeks, the evil Superman's generals are arrested, his One Earth government dismantled and democracy restored thanks to the efforts of the prime universe heroes and the good Superman. As they check on the evil Superman's prison, the prime Superman and the alternate Batman discuss their efforts of repairing the world, with Bruce saying the people need to feel in control. When Clark asks what will happen to this world's Superman, Batman reveals he and his accomplices will stand trial for their crimes.

Superman notes to himself that his alternate self was right; if he had been in the same position, he might have done the same thing, admitting he is not sure what he is truly capable of. Batman tells him to hope, for his world's sake, that he never finds out. As the two turn and walk away, the alternate Batman assures Superman that he will come for him if he ever loses control like his alternate self did. Superman merely chuckles and tells him to get in line.[1]

Possible Post-Regime Epilogue

Injustice Gods Among Us Vol 1 1 Textless
This section of history takes place in a timeline outside that of normal Injustice canon.
Upon beating "Classic" mode in Injustice: Gods Among Us or "Multiverse" mode in Injustice 2 with any playable fighter, the player would receive a possible alternate ending to the game's story featuring their fighter. These alternate histories should not be seen as relevant to future sequels or comic adaptations.
Superman IGAU Ending 0001

Though pleased with the outcome, Superman's battle with his duplicate left him troubled. If one Superman could go so far astray, why not another? Preventative measures were in order.

After much discussion with his fellow Justice Leaguers, Superman ingested a remote-release Kryptonite capsule. At any sign of instability, the kryptonite would permeate his body, killing him. The question of who could trigger the device was solved democratically. Each week, a different Leaguer would take possession of its remote controller. Only Batman was denied a shift.[1]

Powers

  • Kryptonian Physiology: Under the effects of a "yellow" sun, Superman possesses the same potential powers as an average Kryptonian. These include:
    • Solar Energy Absorption: Under optimal conditions, this is the main source of Superman's super powers as they are contingent upon exposure to solar radiation from a yellow sun star system. His biological make up includes a number of organs which lack analogues in humans and whose functions are unknown. It is believed that between one or more of these and his bio-cellular matrix, "yellow" solar energy is stored for later use. This allows for the use of these powers to fade when yellow solar radiation is not available instead of immediate failure.
    • Heat Vision: Superman can, as a conscious act, fire beams of intense heat at a target by looking at it. He can vary the heat and area affected.
    • Super-Hearing: Superman's hearing is sensitive enough to hear any sound at any volume or pitch. With skill and concentration, he can block out ambient sounds to focus on a specific source or frequency.
    • Enhanced Vision: Superman's vision processes the entire electromagnetic spectrum as well as allowing vast control over selective perception and focus.
This umbrella ability includes the following:
      • Electromagnetic Spectrum Vision: Superman can see well into most of the electromagnetic spectrum. He can see and identify radio and television signals as well as all other broadcast or transmitted frequencies. Using this ability, he can avoid detection by radar or satellite monitoring methods. This also allows him to see the aura generated by living thing.
      • Telescopic Vision: This is the ability to see something at a great distance, without violating the laws of physics. Though limited, the exact extent of the ability is undetermined. In function, it is similar to the zoom lens on a camera.
      • X-Ray Vision: This is the ability to see through any volume of matter except lead. Supermans can see things behind a solid, opaque object as if it were not there. He can focus this ability to "peel back" layers of an object, allowing hidden image or inner workings to be observed. The exact type of energy perceivedā€”such as x-rays, cosmic rays, or some other energy invisible to normal humansā€”is unclear. This ability perceives an ambient energy source though, it does not involve the eye projecting a concentrated, possibly toxic, beam to be reflected back from objects.
      • Microscopic Vision: This is the ability to see extremely small objects and images down to the atomic level.
      • Infrared Vision: Superman can see with better acuity in darkness, and to a degree in total darkness.
    • Flight: Superman is able to manipulate graviton particles to defy the forces of gravity and achieve flight. This ranges from hovering to moving in any posture, in any direction.
    • Invulnerability: Due to the interaction of his dense molecular structure and supercharged bio-electric aura, Superman is nigh-invulnerable to extreme energy forces. In addition, his extends this protection against toxins and diseases.
    • Superhuman Stamina: Superman is able to maintain continuous strenuous physical action for an indefinite period of time. This based on his body converting yellow solar radiation directly to energy but is limited by physiological and psychological needs to eat, drink, and sleep.
    • Superhuman Strength: Superman's strength is augmented by yellow solar radiation interacting with the greater than human density, resilience and biological efficiency of his musculature. His strength is more an act of conscious will on energy fields than actual physical strength. It is this act of conscious will that enables him to perform physical feats that are beyond the mere application force, such as moving a mountain top without said rock crumbling under its own mass.
    • Superhuman Speed: Superman is able to move at incredible speed by sheer force of will. This extends to his perceptions and allows for feats such as catching bullets in mid-flight as well as covering vast distances in little or no time.
      This also confers:
    • Super-Breath: Superman is able to create hurricane force winds by exhaling air from his lungs. He can chill the air as it leaves his lungs to freeze targets. He can also reverse the process to pull large volumes of air or vapor into his lungs.
    • Longevity: Superman can live longer than regular humans, remaining at his prime as long as he was under the exposure of the "yellow" sun.

Abilities

  • Expert Combatant: In combat situations, Superman makes use of an improvised fighting style that relies on overwhelming force and speed. Although he has proven to be a far more skilled combatant, compared to his corrupted counterpart Superman, due to him beating him in combat.[2][3] Clark has beaten the likes of Ares in battle,[4][5] along with defeating Injustice's versions of Black Adam,[6] Aquaman[7] and Doomsday.[8]
  • Genius Level Intellect: Superman display an unusually high level of intelligence, maintaining a high degree of control over his powers, being an experienced tactician and scientist.
  • Indomitable Will: Superman has shown to have a powerful spirit, free of corruption and temptation. Having been raised by a kindly Kansas farmer and his wife, he was taught to protect life and help others. He is very optimistic and never gives up, even when things look bad.
  • Journalism: In his identity as Clark Kent, he was a competent reporter for the Daily Planet.
  • Leadership: Superman has the ability to command respect and inspire others with his charisma, ardor, and idealism.
