In the 31st Century, Ariel Masters and the Wonder Twins (Teri and Terry) cloned the original Justice League members Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash and Green Lantern.

The original intent for this being to combat against the Five, a ruthless group who were seemingly unstoppable.

Using the bodies of various volunteers, they used the DNA to override the volunteer's body. This resulted in imperfect versions of the league, with incorrect physical characteristics, shortage of certain powers, as well as memory loss for the entire team.

Kal-El was severely affected for that defective procedure. He lost some of his powers and his personality was warped.

The Leaguers eventually defeated the Five, but Superman got killed shortly after when Lady Styx's Scullions attacked the League.

Powers

  • Cloned Kryptonian Physiology Physiology
    • Solar Energy Absorption: Under optimal conditions, this is the main source of Kal-El's super powers as they are contingent upon exposure to solar radiation from a yellow sun star system. His biological make up includes a number of organs which lack analogues in humans and whose functions are unknown. It is believed that between one or more of these and his bio-cellular matrix, "yellow" solar energy is stored for later use. This allows for the use of these powers to fade when yellow solar radiation is not available instead of immediate failure.
      • Superhuman Durability
      • Superhuman Strength: Kal-El's strength is augmented by yellow solar radiation interacting with the greater than human density, resilience and biological efficiency of his musculature. His strength is more an act of conscious will on energy fields than actual physical strength. It is this act of conscious will that enables him to perform physical feats that are beyond the mere application force, such as moving a mountain top without said rock crumbling under its own mass.
      • Superhuman Stamina: Kal-El is able to maintain continuous strenuous physical action for an indefinite period of time. This based on his body converting yellow solar radiation directly to energy, but is limited by physiological and psychological needs to eat, drink, and sleep.
      • Self-Sustenance
      • Superhuman Speed: Kal-El is able to move at incredible speed by sheer force of will. This extends to his perceptions and allows for feats such as catching bullets in mid flight as well as covering vast distances in little or no time. This also confers:
      • Multi-Sensory Vision
      • Superhuman Hearing

Abilities

Superman possesses most of the original Superman's abilities, but not all due to genetic flaws.

Weaknesses

  • Genetic Flaw: Due to numerous flaws in Cadmus' Regeneration Process, this Superman is not capable of flying under his own power as the original could. He also lacks Heat Vision and possibly numerous other powers of the original Superman.

Kal-L/Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, first appearing in Action Comics #1. However, in the Justice League 3000 continuity Kal-El/Superman first appeared in Justice League 3000 #1 by Keith Giffen, J.M. DeMatteis, and Howard Porter.
